Why 0.05 TH/s Is the Floor for Hosted Contracts

When you read a hosted mining contract from a Korean broker or a direct facility in Mongolia, you will often see a minimum hashrate per unit — typically 0.05 TH/s, sometimes written as 50 GH/s in older documents. That number is not arbitrary. It reflects the economics of rack space allocation and maintenance overhead at modern colocation facilities.

What 0.05 TH/s Actually Means

At 0.05 terahashes per second, a single ASIC produces enough output to justify one rack slot’s power allocation and the host’s remote monitoring cost. Below that threshold, the host spends nearly as much on infrastructure per unit while earning a smaller fee margin. Most facilities simply refuse hardware that falls under the line.

Legacy units — Antminer S9 variants, older Avalon 8 series, early Whatsminer M20 lines — often sit at 0.01–0.04 TH/s depending on firmware and chip degradation. These can still mine, but they are poor candidates for hosted programs priced per kilowatt-hour.

Models That Clear the Bar Today

Common units we assess at the Busan bench that meet or exceed 0.05 TH/s include:

  • Antminer S19, S19 Pro, S19j Pro, S21
  • Whatsminer M30S, M30S++, M50, M53
  • Avalon A1246 and newer A13 series

Always verify measured output, not label spec. A used S19 with heat-damaged chips may register below 0.05 TH/s on our pool test even though the factory rating is far higher.

What to Do With Sub-Threshold Hardware

If your units fall below 0.05 TH/s, hosted colocation is usually not the right path. Self-hosting in a low-cost power region, selling for parts, or recycling through secondary markets are more realistic options. We will tell you directly during intake if your list includes units that hosts will reject.

Before You Sign

Ask your hosting provider to confirm the minimum hashrate in writing and whether they measure at intake or accept manufacturer labels. Some facilities run their own burn-in and reject units that underperform — after you have already paid shipping and deposit.
