Antminer S19 vs Whatsminer M30S in Colocation Racks

Clients often ask us which model fits hosted programs better — Bitmain Antminer S19 series or MicroBT Whatsminer M30S. Both exceed the 0.05 TH/s floor by a wide margin. The decision comes down to power envelope, rack depth, and how your target facility bills overages.
Power Draw Comparison
On our bench at 220V, we typically observe:
| Model | Label Draw | Measured Range (48h avg) |
|---|---|---|
| Antminer S19 Pro | 3250W | 3180–3340W |
| Whatsminer M30S++ | 3400W | 3320–3510W |
Facilities tier contracts in 250W or 500W increments. An S19 Pro often fits Tier C at 3250W. An M30S++ may push into Tier D at the same host, increasing your monthly kWh bill even if hashrate per watt is competitive.
Rack Fit
Standard 42U colocation racks at Korean and Central Asian facilities use 800mm depth. Both models fit, but cable routing differs:
- S19 Pro — Dual fan exhaust rear. Leave 50mm rear clearance for airflow monitoring sensors some hosts install.
- M30S++ — Slightly taller chassis. Verify shelf spacing if the host uses fixed shelves rather than sliding rails.
We document clearance measurements in our hosted equipment assessment reports.
Noise and Maintenance
Whatsminer units tend toward higher fan RPM under load. Facilities in residential-zoned industrial parks — rare but exist in Korea — may flag M30S noise during intake inspection. Antminer S19 units are not quiet, but hosts more commonly accept them without acoustic caveats.
Maintenance access varies by host. Ask whether firmware updates require on-site technician visits or if remote access is permitted. Bitmain and MicroBT release firmware on different schedules; a host that only supports one brand’s update process can delay your uptime.
Our Recommendation Pattern
For Tier C contracts with strict watt caps, S19 Pro batches often pass with fewer overage surprises. For operators prioritizing hashrate per rack slot and holding Tier D headroom, M30S++ batches perform well if the facility confirms acoustic and depth clearance in writing.
Neither choice is universal. Bring your contract tier and facility name to a facility matching consultation and we will map your specific batch against the envelope.
